Richard says “I make furniture to order from Cumbrian hardwoods, from trees which have been felled for good reason. All the designs are my own, but I have a wide range of influences, ranging from Elizabethan and Jacobean furniture to the Arts and Crafts movement. I also love medieval carving, such as misericords, and stone carvings from the Romanesque period, and African carvings, particularly carved doors. As you see on this site, I can make anything from a box to a dresser or dining suite, but my main interest is in using ‘interesting’ timber, and producing carvings. I am very happy to give a sketch and quotation for any project, without obligation. My prices are very reasonable, and I can try to accommodate your budget.”
